Questions for Exploring

Questions for Exploring Curiosity and Certainty

Kenneth Stewart, Ph.D.

Caring Curiosity

o       What helped you adopt this stance for yourself?

o       Did anyone in your family practice caring curiosity?  Or others in your life?

o       If so, how did you take the curiosity into yourself so you too could be that way?

o       If no one else was that way, how might you come to use these practices?

o       What effect might using caring curiosity have on you?

o       What might you do to remain in this stance?

 Temporary Certainty

o       When you have this stance, what helps you remain there?

o       What is it that keeps you from slipping into permanent certainty?

o       What advantages does temporary certainty bring you?

o       What experience have you had while using these practices?

o       Do others join you in adapting these practices so that you can explore together?

o       Who do you know in your family or in your social life that have used
         these practices?

 Hostile Curiosity

o       What is it that tempts you to use hostile curiosity?

o       What are your intentions when you engage in hostile curiosity?

o       What do you notice happens to those around you when you are
        using these practices?

o       What effect does using these practices have on you?

o       Which emotions do you have when you use these practices?

o       Who do you know in your family or in your social life that have used
        these practices?

 Permanent Certainty

o       If you have stepped into permanent certainty, what was happening to
         you at the time?

o       Were you more angry or more anxious? Or both?

o       What effect do you notice they have on others when you use them?

o       What effect did using these practices have on you? On others?

o       What are your intentions?

o       Who do you know in your family or in your social life that have used
        these practices?
